América vence al San Luis y al drama en la Liga MX

Amid the drama and with Jardine's surprising lineup, the Eagles are aiming high for the match against Pumas.

América achieved a dramatic and character-filled victory in their visit to Atlético de San Luis during Matchday 10 of the 2025 Liga MX Apertura Tournament, corresponding to the double-header.
With a 1-0 scoreline, the Águilas earned a victory that is key to boosting their confidence ahead of the Clásico Capitalino against Pumas this weekend.

However, it wasn't all good news: "El Búfalo" Aguirre left the match in the first half with a swollen eyeball after a strong accidental collision with goalkeeper Andrés Sánchez. The impact was noticeable, and the results of a CT scan are awaited to determine the severity of the injury.
Tactically, André Jardine surprised by sparing key players such as Fidalgo, Saint-Maximin, and even Zendejas, who came on in place of the injured Aguirre. Zendejas himself would prove to be the hero of the match, scoring the only goal near the end after a great drive and a cut in the box that sealed the three points.
For its part, Atlético de San Luis showed courage and defensive integrity, although it still hasn't been strong at home. América will now approach the Clásico Capitalino with a significant boost, albeit limited by injuries.
